Surf Science

Surf Science at Surf Sanctuary explores how people learn, adapt and perform in the ocean. It brings together practical coaching, applied science and lived experience to help surfers build understanding, confidence and judgement in real conditions. From our unique vantage point overlooking the Cribbar, Newquay’s rare big-wave reef, this work is grounded in direct observation and testing. The Cribbar functions as our laboratory and proving ground, informing the principles and methods taught through our Surf Science Clinics for surfers seeking deeper insight into both the ocean and themselves.
