Open Water SUP Retreat // 24th - 30th September

We are delighted to offer our exciting SUP Skills - Tour and Surf week in Cornwall this September! This is an open-water residential SUP skills clinic that will develop your skills and confidence in surf conditions and open water, and give you some great adventures along the way. 

Newquay and the nearby coastlines of Cornwall offer world-class touring and gentle surf experiences for those that want to get into open-water SUP. With options facing 360 degrees you can enjoy epic SUP adventures in a wide variety of conditions. There is nothing quite like cruising in on a small pristine wave to land your touring SUP on a secluded Cornish beach. 

The retreat includes 6 nights self-catering accommodation close to the beaches and river in Newquay, and 5 days coaching and guiding with the Surf Sanctuary team lead by BSUPA trainer and SUP International Magazine editor Dom Moore. 

The SUP Skills - Surf and Tour covers theory including surf science, weather and tides, the psychology of adventure and 'stretch', passage planning, and practical elements including open-water paddle technique and board handling, safety and rescue, surf skills, on-water navigation, and paddling in tides and wind. 

This is a great opportunity to meet like-minded paddlers, share incredible experiences and forge some friendships that will last forever. In the evenings relax in the accommo and cook and eat together, or enjoy the low-key attractions of off-season Newquay just a few minutes walk away. 

All equipment is provided (we are using 11'0 - 140' rigid touring boards) although you are welcome to bring your own. Some paddling experience is necessary, if you are comfortable paddling and turning an inflatable SUP in enclosed water you will be OK. No surf experience required.
