How does five days of guided surfing, SUPing, body surfing, trying new surfboards, discovering new beaches, learning new techniques, video coaching, meeting cool people and having an all round amazing time under the mid summer Cornish sun sound to you?
Pretty good right? Well, I just wanted to let you know I’ve got a couple of places left on my intermediate surf coaching week which combines all of this and more in June, Monday 15th – Friday 19th inclusive.
We’re running it from our Surf Sanctuary base at the Headland Hotel on Fistral Beach and will be making full use of all the equipment and facilities in the school. This will be a really special week of surfing where you will get to try different equipment and learn new techniques and skills at your own pace as part of a group of great, like minded people. The level of the week is pitched at people who can get to their feet and ride white water or green waves comfortably, and are looking to develop their turns, basic manoeuvres, paddle fitness, wave and weather knowledge, water confidence, water craft skills, and everything else that is part of becoming a strong, independent surfer. If you’re not sure if the course is for you, please feel free to give me a call on 07540 155123 or email email@example.com for more info.
The format for the week is immersive but not regimented: we’ll always do what’s best according to the conditions on the day (first rule of surfing!) and will be mixing practical sessions in the water on boards with intimate, educational theory sessions in the comfort of the hotel. It’s not a boot camp, but candidates should expect to feel a higher level of surfing fitness and mobility by the end of the week. We’ll also be bringing in a physiotherapist for a session to pass on some vital tips to keep the body working best in the face of the rigours of surfing.
We’ve also got a full quiver of awesome stand up paddle boards which we will be making use of as not only is crossing over to another board sport conducive to developing in surfing in general, but SUP is a fantastic way of getting to know the sea and coastline better, and building confidence, hardiness and a sense of independence in the surfer. Also, surfers who are able to cross over to related board sports often keep a more open minded attitude towards surfing. And if that’s not enough, SUP on the ocean is just downright addictive, you’ll see 🙂
All you need to bring each day is a towel and some money for food, or a packed lunch if you prefer. Wetsuits and surfboards and all other equipment is provided, though you are welcome to bring your own gear if you wish. We kick off each day around 9am, formulate the plan over a coffee whilst analysing the surf, and then get amongst it. You’ll be learning by osmosis, practice, self discovery and through interacting with your surf coaches and each other. Regardless of the quality of surf an invaluable, enlightening week on the water is assured.
The cost for five days of coaching with all equipment provided is £250 per person, so you can see it’s ridiculously cheap. I’ve priced it aggressively as although I’ve ran plenty of kitesurf wave riding coaching weeks this is my first dedicated surfing one, and I’m keen to fill it and get the word out for future holidays, so it’s a good time to take advantage.
For accommodation you can stay at the Headland Hotel for the best experience in which case I can book you in, or of course you can find your own accommodation though I would encourage you to keep as close to Fistral Beach as you can. As mentioned at the start, places are very limited so give me a call on 07540 155123 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to get started on a seriously memorable surfing adventure!
